RULES AND PLAYING CONDITIONS

• The court permit is valid from 7.00 AM to 5.00 PM only. The extension of time will not be possible after 5.00 PM. Hence, all the matches will be scheduled at a defined time. If the team is not available on time, then the walk over will be given to the next team after waiting for 10 minutes(with a minimum of 6 players).

• There will be no Gender restrictions. A team can consist of any number of male or female employees, comprising 6 playing members on the court.

• The tournament would be played on a League + Knockout basis.

• The venue will be Kittur Rani Chennamma Stadium, Jayanagar ( https://maps.app.goo.gl/Cb4f91PVZ9fmF7H3A ).

• All players should be employees of Computacenter.

• Players are not allowed to change their teams in the middle of the tournament.

• Matches will be played as per the schedule/fixture given.

• Players/teams who do not turn up 10 minutes after the scheduled time of the match will be assumed to have given a walkover to their opponents.

• Team Captains are responsible for getting information about the match timings from the Organisers.

• The tournament organiser reserves the right to change the format if, in its opinion, there is insufficient time to complete the matches.

• Teams will be given ONLY 2 minutes warm-up time before the match.

• Qualified and professional panel Umpires will be posted for this tournament. During play, the decision of the umpires would be final and binding on all players.

• Each team must have a minimum of 6 players and a maximum of 12 players.

• All League & Knockout matches shall be played as below.

  • League Matches: 1 set for 15 points

  • Quarter Finals: 1 set for 25 points

  • Semi Finals: best of 3 sets for 15 points

  • Final: best of 3 sets for 25 points

• Teams from league stage will advance to quarter finals rounds based upon the following criteria:

  • Total Match points

  • Point Difference

  • Points Scored

  • Points Against

  • If there is a tie considering all the above parameters, then a decided match will be played for 1set of 15 pts to decide the winner.

• Top 2 teams in each group will qualify for the quarter finals.

• Organiser has full right to change the number of points during Quarter, Semi’s and Finals depending upon the time availability.

• Court side should be changed at the 8^th point scored by any team first during League Matches.

• Court side should be changed at the 13^th point scored by any team first during Quarter Finals.

• Each team will have 2 timeouts per set, of 30 seconds each.

• Rotation rules

• No Rotation applies to players on the court

• Service can not be done by a single person throughout the set.

• Only a maximum of 5 substitutions can be made per set with the permission of the referee.

• Game will be played by the standard Volleyball rules.

• No Swapping of the players between the teams are allowed

• The Serve

  • Server must serve from behind the end line until after contact

  • Ball may be served underhand or overhand

  • Ball must be clearly visible to opponents before serve

  • Served ball may graze the net and drop to the other side for a point.

  • Serve must be returned by a bump only. No setting or attacking a serve

  
  

• Scoring

  • Rally scoring will be used.

  • There will be a point scored on every score of the ball.

  • Offence will score on a defence miss or out-of-bounds hit.

  • Defence will score on an offensive miss, out-of-bounds hit, or serve into the net.

  • Must win by 2 points(In case of a tie on game point team taking 2 2-point lead wins).

  
  

• Playing The Game

  • Maximum of three hits per side.

  • Player may not hit the ball twice in succession (A block is not considered a hit)

  • Ball may be played off the net during a volley and on serve.

  • A ball touching a boundary line is good.

  • If the ball touches the antenna, it is considered a fault. The ball must pass cleanly over the net and between the antennas without making contact.

  • A player must not block or attack a serve.

  
  

• Basic Rule Violations

  • Stepping on or over the line on a serve

  • Failure to serve the ball over the net successfully

  • Hitting the ball illegally (Carrying, Palming, Throwing, etc. )

  • Touches of the net with any part of the body while the ball is in play.

  • If the ball is driven into the net with such force that it causes the net to contact an opposing player, no foul will be called, and the ball shall continue to be in play

  • Reaching over the net, except under these conditions.

  • When executing a follow-through

  • When blocking a ball which is in the opponent's court but is being returned (the blocker must not contact the ball until after the opponent who is attempting to return the ball makes contact). Except to block the third play Reaches under the net (if it interferes with the ball or opposing player)

    
    

• Walkover Rules

  • Team which is late by 10 min will loose. Opponent will get a walkover.

  • Result of a Walkover

    • The non-offending team will be awarded a 15–0 victory in the league stage.

    • The offending team will receive a 0–15 loss recorded in the standings.
