RULES AND PLAYING CONDITIONS

• The court permit is vaid from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM only. The extension of time will not be possible after 5.00 PM.

• The tournament would be played on Knockout basis.

• The venue will be Hical Campus.

• All players should be employees of Hical organization.

• Players are not allowed to change their teams in the middle of tournament.

• Matches will be played as per the schedule/fixture given.

• First aid kits will be available to treat any injuries sustained while playing.

• Players/teams who do not turn up 10 minutes after the scheduled time of the match will be assumed to have given a walkover to their opponents.

• The players are responsible for to get informed about the match timings.

• The tournament organizer reserves the right to change the format if in its opinion, there is no sufficient time to complete the matches.

• Teams will be given ONLY 2-minutes warm-up time before the match.

• Qualified and professional panel Umpires will be posted for this tournament. During play the decision of the umpires would be final and binding on all players.

• Each team must have a minimum of 6 players and a maximum of 10 players.

• All matches (Knockout) shall consist of the best of three sets for 15 points, with a minimum difference of 2 points to win.  

• If a team wins the first 2 sets, then the third set will not be played

• The courts will be changed in the second set. If the match goes to the deciding set, the set point is 15 and the courts will be changed on 8 points.  

• Each team will have 2 timeouts per set, of 30 seconds each. 

• Only a maximum of 5 substitutions can be made per set with the permission of the referee.

• Game will be played by the standard Volleyball rules.  

• No of Players

  • 6 players

  • 4 subs  

• The Serve

  • Server must serve from behind the end line until after contact

  • Ball may be served underhand or overhand

  • Ball must be clearly visible to opponents before serve

  • Served ball may graze the net and drop to the other side for point

  • Serve must be returned by a bump only. No setting or attacking a serve

• Scoring

  • Rally scoring will be used.

  • There will be a point scored on every score of the ball.

  • Offense will score on a defense miss or out of bounds hit.

  • Defense will score on an offensive miss, out of bounds hit, or serve into the net.

  • 1 match will be best of 3(Each game 15 points).

  • Must win by 2 points(In case of a tie on game point team taking 2 points lead wins).

  • Final match

• Playing The Game

  • Maximum of three hits per side.

  • Player may not hit the ball twice in succession (A block is not considered a hit)

  • Ball may be played off the net during a volley and on serve.

  • A ball touching a boundary line is good.

  • A legal hit is contact with the ball by a player body above and including the waist which does not allow the ball to visibly come to a rest.

  • If two or more players contact the ball simultaneously, it is considered one play and the players involved may not participate in the next play.

  • If the ball touches the antenna, it is considered a fault. The ball must pass cleanly over the net and between the antennas without making contact.

  • A player must not block or attack a serve.

• Basic Rule Violations

  • Stepping on or over the line on a serve

  • Failure to serve the ball over the net successfully

  • Hitting the ball illegally (Carrying, Palming, Throwing, etc. )

  • Touches of the net with any part of the body while the ball is in play. If the ball is driven into the net with such force that it causes the net to contact an opposing player, no foul will be called, and the ball shall continue to be in play

  • Reaching over the net, except under these conditions

    • a) When executing a follow-through

    • b) When blocking a ball which is in the opponents court but is being returned (the blocker must not contact the ball until after the opponent who is attempting to return the ball makes contact). Except to block the third play Reaches under the net (if it interferes with the ball or opposing player)

• Walkover Rules

  • Team which is late by 10 min will loose. Opponent will get a walkover.

  • Matches are played on knockout basis.
